A BIT ABOUT US

We have been designing, planting and maintaining gardens and landscapes for more than twenty-five years. For us, the greatest gardens evoke a carefree, natural feeling and an understated discipline, an ever-blooming contrast of plants that brings, on any given day, both joy and calm. Our greatest interest is in developing a “Four Season Garden,” — a richer and more interesting use of trees, shrubs and perennials that offers something new with each changing season, giving a sense of depth and life throughout the year. Structure, color, varying leaf textures, differing barks, native and near native plants are considered to achieve this, always with an eye to proportion and balance.

We concentrate on gardens located on the East End of Long Island. After many years in the landscape design field, we have strong relationships with the best professionals for installation, tree health and maintenance, masonry and landscape lighting. We believe that every garden should contribute to the health of our planet, and therefore support using all organic installation and maintenance practices.

Lisa Stamm and Dale Booher established the Homestead in 1993 as a way to express their shared love of nature, beauty and balance. Dale, beloved by many for his quiet wisdom and eye for detail, passed away in September 2016. Lisa and Dale’s daughter, Vanessa, joined the business shortly thereafter, coming from a 10 year career in art and design.
